I have a 2001 Excursion 7.3L with an aftermarket lift. It looks like it is about 4" but not sure as i am the 3rd owner. I was looking underneath today and saw that the bump stops have about 1" of clearance. I was wondering if this is normal or if the person who installed the lift didnt do a complete job. Thanks!
Doesn't seem like much, but the photo also shows the bump stop has the three big holes which would let it collapse quite a bit before truly becoming a "stop". Kind of a progressive stop?
I recall my bump stops being solid - so maybe these are aftermarket?
How's the ride? Do you get decent travel?
Stealing from an old motorcyclists trick book.... Put a zip tie on the chrome shaft of the shock and drive around. The body of the shock will push it up, showing how far the maximum travel was.

thanks for the reply. im assuming the stops were part of the lift package? i will try the zip tie trick and see what it shows. the ride is pretty rough but i was attributing that to the lift (im new to the 4x4 game). thanks!
Carry over from the 70's when people thought trucks should ride hard and real off road trucks hurt.
I thought the developments from off-road racing over the last 40 years would change this, but it seems to be slow in coming. There are some good riding lifts, but they are still the minority.
