Auto Computer Exchange Good or bad rep?

Hi all,

Just wondering about other peoples luck with these guys.

I bought a new IDM last July. Well it seems to have gone bad. I have the right bank completely out. Checked my valve cover connections, tight & clean. All else seems ok.

So I call and talk to the warrenty guy. I tell him I have receipt from July, etc. Its handwritten so they don't have a record? even with a invoice #. Seems wierd to me, But he wants me to fax or email him a copy. I am home and don't have a scanner or fax handy.

The best they can do for me is to email me a lable so I can box it up and send it to them with a copy of my reciept. They will check it out and mail it back to me.

I have another truck so it won't kill me to be down a few days.
In talking to the guy about the policy and company, he tells me he is new there.(2 mos.) He told me it is a very high turnover company.

I guess it doesn't give me a warm and fuzzy feeling about this company.

Is better option available?

Thanks,

Joe

I have bought 4 or 5 different items from them and haven't had any issues. My invoices were computer generated though. I also have not had to use their warranty. I hope it works out for you but I haven't had any issues with IDM's or PCM's I have bought for them for customers vehicles.

I've heard of a few IDM's being bad when they were shipped but they've always shipped out a replacement at no charge very quickly. So far, all the stuff I've read they've stood behind their warranty.

And in the future if you need to scan a receipt just take a picture of it and email the picture. It works well enough to get by.

Hi,

Thanks. I thought about that but was real busy and didn't feel like digging the camera out and messing with it. Plus I wasn't sure how it would work.

Good to know that it does.

Later,
Joe

If that's the place in FL that sells on eBay, I have heard nothing but bad news from many, many customers.
There are threads everywhere that people continue to have issues with their stuff.
Sure, they will send another right out, then when that one doesn't work they send another, and so on.
I have not personally gone through this, but I've heard the same story enough times to know to stay away from them.

Good luck.

Jim I am not sure what to say. I guess my experience and reading has been just the opposite. I have recommended them many times and quite a few members here buy them. This is the first case I have heard on one even failing. Let alone having an issue with warranty. I have installed at least 3 IDM's on customers trucks and 2 PCM for different vehicles and have yet to have any issue with the hardware or Programming (PCM's).

Please keep us posted on how this turns out. I pay close attention to suppliers that I recommend.

Well, if anyone remembers this thread.....I got a BAD reman PCM from them....after I called them and explained the issue and ALL that was accomplished AND faxing down a letter explaining the said above thread...they sent out another...That being said they did check the IDM - at no charge - ....I am not sure I would try them again though. My PSD isn't my daily driver, so time was on my side.

You're not confusing them with Pensacola Diesel are you?

I have referred them to many people as well and heard good things for a while.
Till about last summer then my customers started calling back with a "Gee, thanks for the hook-up with the crappy computer place" phone calls.
So I just don't recommend them anymore.

Is any of the "Big Box" auto parts stores selling PCM's? And with that being said, would they need to be re-flashed by the Dealer?
