Exhaust Feedback

Hello all.

I'm looking for feedback and/or opinion for an aftermarket exhaust system. I've always been a person that would go to the local muffler shop and have a system created from one of their performance mufflers. I'm looking at the turnkey systems on Summit.
I know it's all preference to a manufacturer or tone you like on your truck so I'm looking for what ever anyone has to offer up.

I drive interstate often enough that I don't want to hear a droning exhaust on my last nerve 1 hour into a 3 hour drive. Let's face it we're driving big echo boxes. I'm okay with a nice throaty deep sound I just don't want to hear the old school turbo mufflers I used 20 years ago.

I'm 2003 Expy XLT 4.6 2wd.

Let me know what you think.

What was wrong with the "Old School" Turbo mufflers?

Nothing "was" wrong with them ran them for years. I just don't want the drone on long interstate runs now.

I had them on my '67 Cyclone "R" code car and my '68 GT500 KR, both with a 448 engine and drove on the streets and interstates in Florida and never noticed a drone. Cruising was guiet but when you jumped on it the got real throaty until the carbs got wide open. Then all you heard was the carbs. A pair of 780s on a big motor make some sweet sounds or tunes, if you will.

You won't be dissapointed with Magnaflow or Dynomax. Even on my 5.0 Cobra with longtubes and no cats (true dual obviously) my Dynomax Ultra Flows do not make too much noise at highway cruise. Quiet at idle and SCREAM when you punch it. My buddy had a magnaflow catback on his 2004 Mustang GT (same motor you have) with the stock headers and H pipe and that thing sounded really nice. Almost no noise at cruise at all, just the lightest muffled deep tone. Idle was quiet but you could tell it was not stock and full throttle was nice and throaty.

Another benefit of Magnaflow is all their stuff is fully stainless. I wish my Ultraflow kit was fully stainless... the mufflers and tips are but not the flow tubes or the over-axle tubes. It has still held up well though, under 20k miles in 9 years might have something to do with that...
