Quiet Mufflers

I'm getting ready to put Headers & dual exhaust on my 85 F350 dually. I use the truck just to cruise with & to haul my race car to the track. I got a recommendation from Flowmaster to run dual 2 !/2" exhaust with a set of there 70 series mufflers. Right now I don't have the money to buy a set of there mufflers. I'm wanting to have something that's going to be kind of quiet because we take long trips with this going on different trips to different tracks & me & my family don't want to listen to a bunch of noise. I'm looking at a set of Thrush Turbo mufflers with a 20" case because of the cost. The motor right now is all stock except for an Edelbrock Carb. I'm going to rebuild the motor this winter & I'm going to install a Competition Cams RV in it & port the exhaust side of the heads. Do any of you think these or any of the other Turbo muffler will be OK. I don't want it to sound like a Race Car, I just it to be kind of quiet , I know that with it being a Big Block it will be kind of loud especially after the rebuild.

I run the cheap about $20 turbo mufflers on my 73 thunderbird and my 75 F100, one with a 460 and the other with a 429. I have 2 1/2 inch duels but not headers. Running manifolds. They are pretty quiet unless I really get into it then they get loud. I blew one out on my truck and got a replacement from Summit racing. I think it might have been less than $20. I did recently build a custom exhaust on my 92 f150 with a 302. I removed the cats and ran it from the 2 inch into a 3 inch single. I tried a small 4 inch outer 3 inch inner flowmaster muffler, but was way too loud and took away my low end torque. The 302 needs all the help it can get. I bought a $69 stainless steel muffler from summit and I love the sound. louder than stock but not way loud like the glass pack. I got my low end torque back also. Hope this helps.

Ok, I found a muffler test on the internet that has the sound db's, the flow test & dyno test. What I've come up with is that the Summit turbo muffler is just about the same as a Dynomax Super Turbo. They both are better all around than the Thrush Turbo. So my question now is do's anybody have a set of Summit Turbo mufflers behind there 460? What do the Thrush & Summit muffler sound like behind a 460 with duals. Remember what I said in my original post I don't want something that's loud behind this thing. The Summit welded muffler was better than all 3 but the db's is louder by 1 number than all 3, do's anybody have one of these, what do's it sound like?

Hey guy's, I got the exhaust on the truck this week & LOVE it. It has a mellow tone when your cruising but it has that authoritive tone when you get into it. I used the Summit Turbo mufflers on it.
