I plugged it back in and tryed it again.
I was just like the brakes are on.
So I unplugged it again.
Did you test the connector with a multi meter? If it were me, I would want to find out if the PCM is commanding the WGC to open or if there is a short to ground. If the PCM is asking for the waste gate to open then you have another issue to resolve.
Can your Edge read boost? How about exhaust back pressure?
Have you pulled any of your codes yet?
I havnt did the things you suggested yet.
Lack of know how and tools but Ill read up on it and get to it when I can.
I think i understand what you are saying ..........
I'm with you on this one. Acting like the brake is on while pointing downhill has nothing to do with the wastegate
This would be the first thing I would try.
Something isn't jiving for me.
Wastegates only operate when the engine is under heavy load and your truck won't roll even at an idle???
I imagine it will roll down a hill in nuetral and shut off.
I mean it doesnt roll smothly and easily going downhill at highway speeds.
When you let off on the fuel the truck doesnt keep rolling at speed ,it starts to slow down just like you pushed the overdrive button or like a exhaust brake on a Dodge.
Are you sure we are talking about the wastegate and not the EBPV?
If the problem is only 'in gear' and feels (sounds?) like an exhaust brake - we must be talking about EBPV. If thats the case, there is NO HARM or future implications from leaving it disconnected - although ya prolly oughta protect the connector from shorting out...
The electrical connector for the wastegate is on the front of the spider/5way plenum in front of the turbo and the one for EBPV is UNDER the turbo on the turbo pedestal - it also has a wire retaining clip thingy ya have to flip up before unplugging it.
I got a real kick out of your willingness to get one of these new PITA trucks to replace the venerable 7.3. Maybe its just because I've gotten to a point where (I think ) I understand this engine and know its quirks - but the new junk appears leaps and bounds more complicated. Besides, there are no forums like FTE for them...
