Has anyone swapped a non-step tailgate with one with a step? Will the step tailgate work with the factory bed extender? Thinking about swapping my non-step tailgate with one with a step-just wondering if it will work. I know it will cost some dough and want to make sure before I buy the new tailgate. If I buy a new tailgate with the step from Ford, does it come with everything? Am I nuts for thinking about this?
I have found some take-offs from upfitter installers selling them for about $450.00. Looks like the way to go. I just need to find out if it will work with the bed extender. Thanks for the reply.
The bed extender has nothing to do with the step option. Simply would not matter one bit. The entire gate assembly is different with the step option. A local body shop had a superduty when the step was first offered that had a stolen gate and they pieced a new one from all ford parts, which each piece is a separate part number, and it totalled over $3000 in parts when it was finished.
