2008 SD tailgate weight?

2008 SD tailgate weight?
The new one with the step. Is the lift of this heavier than the non-step tailgate, that is, does this heavier gate have the same spring assist as the lighter tailgate, making it a heavier lift, or have they compensated with a heavier spring to make the lift the same?
Also, anyone know the actual weight of the complete tailgate?

Ram air will add to whatever else you've got going on in the intake tract, force fed or normally aspirated. On the super speedway in Fontana I could hit 140+ mph, thats some good "free" (cool) supercharging. It all helps. I call ramair a cowboys supercharger. All my bikes, cars & trucks have it.

Thanks for the info. '97-'03 SD tailgate weighs 47#'s (typ for other tailgates)! This truck weight is getting out of hand. No wonder I'm selling so may power tailgates to these new SD customers.

Wow the original was only 47#. that step up is a lot heavier, but worth it except when taking it off.

It almost feels to me like the '99 did when closing. I wouldn't be surprised if the gate is new for the step, and maybe its beefier.
