You should be okay with 6000lbs. You won't be flying up the steeper grades with it though but it will do it. What condition is the truck in? Also what is your gear ratio?

I pulled a 36ft fifth wheel which weighed around 9,000lbs empty with my f250 light duty just like yours when I had it, the only thing I lacked was power but you will be significantly lighter though. Eventually I did upgrade to a 08 super duty but 3,000lbs is a big difference, I had a travel trailer before that was almost exactly the same weight and it pulled it fine. I loved my F250 light duty.

Also if you have the 7700 package that should be your GVWR which is amazing for any truck at the time. The payload rating was up to 2850lbs, not bad for what was classified as a half-ton truck. One thing is for certain, that truck will ride really nice going down the road; mine always felt like a Cadillac when it had a good size load on it.

Its also rated to 8000lbs for a fifth wheel I believe. I would at least never go over that just because the 5.4 can't really pull anything heavier than that, the suspension is the best part on that truck and the only thing that did truly limit its capabilities was the engine.

I would say you should be fine, my father and I pulled just about everything we could hook up to it. It did everything for us, the only reason why we got rid of it was because we upgraded to that 36ft fifth wheel and it crawled up the hills. Even with that amount of weight the suspension and the rest of the truck handled it great.
