1996 460 f-350, converted from an E4OD to a ZF 5 speed, I have 2 tubes from my airbox to my throttlebody, don't seem to have any sensors in the tubes or airbox, so do I have a SD or MAF??. Already have the smog pump deleted, stock manifolds with a 3'single until I get ahold of some headers. Is there a better cost to benefits ratio from a TB spacer, or an aftermarket throttlebody, or both?? Installing electric fans and an ignition tuneup/upgrade next weekend. Getting 11.5 mpg with 35"MTR's, 3.55 gears and a 4 inch lift. Does anyone got horsepower numbers for a stock 96 460 by chance??? New to gassers so I guess I am here to learn and experiment with you guys
You have an SD system and you need to recalibrate your speedo/ODO for those tires... you're actually getting better milage than you think but you won't know it until you have an accurate ODO reading. TB spacers are a giant waste of $$ on these EFI motors, if you haven't already done so get these restrictive horns out of the intake tubes.
i have been using a GPS to figure mileage as well as consistent refueling technique, I cut off the airhorns, but are we all sure those don't help by increasing velocity of air (yes it was an afterthought) I didn't notice any improvement from taking them off around town today, but will be hauling the camper down a nice roadtrip tuesday, so i'll see if anything feels different then. Other than headers, don't look like alot more we can do with these tanks huh. Thanks for the id info, I think I need to change my comp as well since I swapped an auto for the manual, does anyone have a calibration code for a 96 460 5 speed fed emission(non calif.) and or vin #, comp number i could utilize so I can pick the right one. I would sure appreciate it
Exhaust is the next place for upgrades, all the stock systems are restrictive and the 460 is the biggest air pump in the stable so it's need to breath more than the rest.

somethings gotta be wrong with my truck. i have a 1996 460 E4od 4x4 f250 Ca mass air and on a good day i can only get 11 mpg. it usually gets from 7 to 9 mpg. usually 7. it runs great, no codes, cant find leaks anywhere, vacume or otherwise. i just resorted to accepting thats what she's gonna get. dont want to start throwing parts at it. seems kinda low, but she's a great running truck.
