I have the Front tilt hood on my 55 Ford from CPP. Been on there for years.
It seems that whenever I go in excess of 70 mph, and not super fast either. Maybe anywhere from 75-80 MPH, the front hood slides out of the rollers while Im driving. Doesnt flip up, cause I slow down when I see it slide up and sitting on the rollers, but one of these times its gonna happen and cause some major damage/injuries. And dont haver your buddy jump out and try to slam it down like he is trying to bring down a gazelle either. Get out and do it yourself.
Super dangerous.
Anyone else having these issues???? Im gonna email CPP Tech support and ask them if they have heard this happening and see whats up.
I asked about this a couple years ago, but never got any good responses as to this happening. So Im revisiting the issue to see if anyone has heard anything.
I have the CPP system on my 56 and drive it 70+ mph often without and hood movement but I do have the front latch to keep the hood in place. With that locking your hood there isn't any need for the safety latch.
Not sure what catalog you have but the 2010 one says not to use the safety latch (the one on the pass side) but to use the center latch.
Anyway that's what I have and it works for me. Good luck
