If it is #3 (top-right purple numeral) on this picture, then, yes:

Your truck should have a vacuum diagram under the hood, right up front. If so, that could perhaps be of help to you.

Yes it does, I have everything else hooked up except for this #3 port, tried to see where it hooks into the exhaust manifold, but no luck. I will search again in the morning when I can see better. My choke stove tube is rusted off though which does not surprise me, I will see if I can come up with some sort of patch for this tomorrow as well??? I would really like this thing to be as it was from the factory, and I have been lucky so far. Looks like evrything is there as original. I will tell you what after hooking up the idle mixture motor it runs completely different, it does not bog down going up hills now, that if you call what we have hills. I am enjoying getting it back together correctly.

I have another motor that came with it that is currently being rebuilt, I wanted to become familiar with everything before the new motor goes in to simplify the process, and already be in the know! I have to say the thought of not having to deal with allof the emissions stuff is tempting. I looked into the Offenhauser 2bbl intake and maybe some EFI manifolds, but had absolutely no luck in finding the wiring harness to convert it. So I guess I am staying the stock course for now. I really appreciate your help in all of this. Once I get the engine straight, I am going to go ahead do the body and paint, the truck is in very good condition. It will look awesome, just not sure what color to paint it yet, may go with the stock dark blue or a custom copper color???

The number 3 nipple goes to a metal tube which is fitted into the bottom of the exaust manifold.

The choke stove tube come out of the top of the exaust manifold exactly above where the other tube goes in.

If you need to, you can buy a section of tubing, flare the one end, and connect it to the #3 nipple with a hose, then mould the tubing around a section of exaust manifold, then attach the other end with a fitting to the choke housing connection.

I would suggest this if the exaust manifold is missing a choke stove, (It may have headers), or if the parts are not easily avaliable to fix it properly. This will give you a functioning choke stove, untill you can fix it properly with the correct parts.

Yes I though about this today when I located the ports on the manifold today! Luckilly I work in a steel mill with lots of fittings, and tubing for this. Stainless too, I plan on gathering materials on Wednesday when I go back in! Thanks a bunch.

You mean this one?

I got it from a 1985 (or so) 6-banger sometime last winter but the guy actually needs something else so I have this to give away to anyone who may need it....

The hot air input to the carb on a 84-86 4.9 with a feedback carb is on the other opposite side compared to a early carb.
So changing from a feedback carb to a older style carb needs a different hot air input tube from an older truck.
Most are rusted off at my junk yard.

Hey Jim, that's interesting. You're right (of course), here is a Carter YFA (1981, pre-feedback), and the choke hot air input is obviously not on the same side as the Feedback version.

Any other little facts like that that you know of? Little incompatibility differences one might encounter when doing an EEC-IV to Dura Spark conversion? For instance - will the air cleaner housing from an '86 still "fit" on top of this earlier (1980-82) carburetor?

"Yes", to the question of will the air filter housing fit an older carburetor. Mine did.
