Finally going to have enough sunshine to get this job done! I'm hoping with 2 of us working on it, it will be done tomorrow. I may have to take a break from the diet and have a few Modelo's!! That way if it doesn't get done, at least I will still feel good about it.
My fear is that I start out with a great running truck, and when I'm done it runs like scat....
Blade I would love to knock that out as well. Is that a pretty quick job?
It seems like Ive read there is an Oring or gasket kit for the turbo, but thats one thing I didnt pick up...
You won't need anything for the turbo itself as far as o-rings or gaskets, those are for the oil lines which you're already upgrading and hopefully have the gaskets for. If you didn't get them then the paper gasket on top of the turbo is the one you have to be careful with. It's reusable IF you don't tear it getting the old oil feed line off.

Thank you, time permitting I will definitely clean the turbo.....
Here's my first dumb question - Trans lines on the radiator are not coming out, and I feel like I'm going to break them. After removing the white clip, they should just pull out right? I ask the question because I REALLY don't want to break it!!

I haven't done them but IIRC they take a tool similar to a fuel line disconnect tool. I don't see anything in your list that requires removal of the trans cooler. What's up with that?
Yea, don't just go yanking on the trans lines. The white clips are just a secondary. The do indeed take a disconnect tool. Should be 1/2" at the radiator. See example at link below...

Hey I don't have one of those!! lol Thank you though!
What a job!! Everything is out, and cleaned up. I need to torque the STC fitting and replace the Fuel Pressure spring, then I will be ready to start putting everything back.
Only ONE thing concerns me at this point. I didn't have a wrench big enough to remove the IPR, so I had to use a pipe wrench. That worked fine but the outer part of the IPR spun about 1/2", just as soon as I noticed, I turned it right back. Did I ruin it, or should it be OK?
IIRC its suppose to spin. ya dont loosen the nut on the tranny lines. i did that and had to buy a new radiator because the cooler fell inside. just takes a fuel disconnect tool that like 5 bucks at the auto parts store but then again why did you need to remove it?

Well I was trying to get to the belt tensioner so I thought it would be easier to just pull the radiator out. It turns out I didn't need to obviously, but I would still like to get it out and clean it. There is all kinds of crap stuck to the front of it...
My hat is off to all who work on these trucks for a living. That is a lot of work. I think I bruised my pancreas laying on the radiator all day!!
All of the big stuff is back together. The only issues I had were the drivers side standpipe. Only the top came out. Confirmed with Cheezit that it was OK just to replace the top. I did see some wire chafing at one of the injector connectors. That is on my list for tomorrow to repair. I was glad to hear the IPR is suppose to spin.
I have a question about the blue spring. It came with a black plastic piece and a small black O-ring that I didn't use. I am hoping those parts were for a different year???
Hoping to light it off tomorrow afternoon, and post some pictures!

And this is the exact type of post I like to see, that only gives credence to why I don't mind posting/sharing some service procedures. It is my hope that most of you get a better idea of why it is so expensive to repair these trucks. If you think your pancreas hurts, you should see what my arms look like after I've done battle, replacing a set of EGR/oil coolers on an E-Series!!! Even worse, is when there is aftermarket BS bolted to the accessory drive. For this very reason, I usually quote about double the labour to do the same repair on an E-Series as I would an F-Series.

Yes, those parts you mention are for earlier model year applications, more specifically '03 and '04.
It's Alive, but barely!! It look a lot of cranking but finally lit off. I expected that, but I have a pretty bad hissing sound and NO boost. I am guessing the that the hiss is an exhaust leak, but the NO boost has me a bit stumped.

the exhaust spins the compressor to build boost before it exits the truck
start it up and check your up pipe and y pipe connections
