Ok fan speeds work great. Air temperature selection works great. My issue is that selecting from floor to dash to vents does not work properlly. If i have it on defrost it will always change to vent but when in vents it will not change back to floor or defrost. once stuck on vents and i come home and let the truck sit over night ill put the selector back on defrost. Start the truck in the am and it blows from the defrosters but as soon as i put it back onto vents it sticks there. I looked up from the peddle to look at the accuator switch attached to the side of the box and evertime i choose a different setting it does move so im not sure whats going on in there. sometimes when i do get it to change from vent to defrost it makes a plastic creaking noise in there. Anyone ever have this issue and any fix ideas. Thanks alot I searched and couldnt find to much online about this issue.
There is a plastic blend door that sticks and causes what you mentioned. Defrost is usually what the blend door defaults to if something goes wrong with the system. This is a issue with many 04-08 F150s. It's an expensive fix (labor wise) because the entire dash needs to be taken apart to get to. If you search for "blend door" you will find alot of info that will help.
So its most likely a cheap part that needs replaced with alot of labor time. Figures. Anyone know how to get to this? Any instruction on how to take the dash out of an FX4 with the center consol?
I would check the vacuum lines for the HVAC system under the hood and look to see if there are any cracks. I'm not sure where these are but others might be able to help.
Yeah it's a cheap part and labor is the expensive part as always. With the FX4 you probably have the auto temp control or is it the manual control?
It could just be the actuator for the air flow which is talked about in that link.
