96 F250, build sheet indicates automatic hubs, but I am the second owner and it has locking hubs secured w/ allen-head screws of unknown size.
Problem is the screws are not any size I have, they really do appear to me to be 4mm bolts w/ a 3.5 mm allen head. wtf? I don't have the best set of calipers, perhaps they are SAE and the tool size is, what, 9/64? Whatever size it is, I don't have it in 3 sets of wrenches, 2 SAE (but no /64 gradations) and 1 Metric.
I've googled 3.5 mm allen wrenches, they do exist but are apparently rare, I can't find one in town at the usual suspects (Lowe's, Sears, Auto Zone, a few other local places).
What the hell size do y'all think this is? Any ideas on how to remove them?
Damn thing also has 21mm fasteners all over the front end. What. The. F
Well, that was fast. Any idea where I can find one online? I did find a single at metric-tools.com, or something, but they wanted like $30 to ship (not kidding). I also have a garage full of Japanes motorcyles, two things I've never seen on those are 21mm hex heads and 3.5 mm allens (or 13 mm hex heads, for that matter).
That hub got ground off on a high curb. It is stuck in the locked position, so I have 4wd, but I cannot release that side. The plastic part just spins, it is no longer connected to the mechanism inside.
