The Auto hubs used 1 spindle nut, and the manuals use 2 spindle nuts.
Some people have swapped manuals in and never replaced the spindle nuts.
Its just an accident waiting to happen.
The RiffRaff site says "Spindle kit required for 94-97 trucks" do I need that also?
My truck left the factory w/ automatic hubs, at some point the original owner or dealer replaced them w/ manual. On another site I see:
"When replacing automatic 3-hole cap screw hubs with manual hubs, you must use a Warn Spindle Nut Conversion Kit that is appropriate for your vehicle."
I wonder how do I determine if I need that kit or not? You seem to indicate it is possible (?) to swap manual in place of automatic without using a different spindle nut?
edit: I take it I have a 30 spline spindle? So the Warn PNs are
11690 - std.
38826 - prem.
32721 - spindle kit (RiffRaff contradicts itself "Note: Only for use on 94-97 trucks when replacing automatic 3 hole cap screw hub."
I are confused.
BTW I tried to order replacement parts for the existing hub, 2 different Ford parts guys thought that was high effin comedy. Couldn't even look that part up.
