Well folks, as you all know our buddy Terry is a bit of a tech tard, One heck of a fabricator and truck enthusiast but a tech tard. He recently whupped up a dash insert and custom gauges for his ol' 56 and I told him I'd post the pics for him. Here's the basics of the insert:

<TABLE border=0 cellSpacing=0 cellPadding=0><TBODY><TR><TD vAlign=top>Hey man, I'm finally about done with this stupid thing. I've got some fine tuning to do, but this is the pictures I took. The first ones are of a generic dash cluster you can get from Mid Fifties. I cut the back out of it and had a friend weld the insert that my little brother programmed and cut for me. He's a CNC machinist. Anyway, after the welding, I polished the insert and ring. The gauges are Omega Kustom. I got the one they call a 5" speedo and the regular gauges for the others. Anyway, as I already told you the idea is to mimic a '56 Ford car cluster with a small twist. The funny shaped hole at the bottom of the cluster is for the V8 emblem that I've got off the shelf at the local Walmart that looks just like the V8 emblem from my grille. My little brother has made my turnsignal indicators to go from the edge of the 8 to the points and is cutting them out of dk green plastic. They will go in from the back side and be illuminated by the TS indicator bulbs. Also the top and bottom of the 8 emblem is goin to be used for the the high beam indicator light and a parking light indicator. Most of this is made, but not installed at the time of the picture. I'm TIRED!!!"

So, come on everyone, lets give Terry a big round of applause and have a frosty beverage of your choice in his honor.
Nice job of making what you want. It is different and simple but effective.
I will trade some of my computer skills for some of your fabricating skills.
Thanks guys, but I did have help from buddies. I came up with the idea. My original idea was to cut the whole dash out and put a '56 Ford car dash in it. I have 2 of them. I saw that done in CC magazine a few years back, but then after taking a hard look at just the cluster area I decided I could have almost the same affect with alot less effort. I still may change the whole dash out later, but for now this is cool. I've got a little more "tuning" to do but I'm getting close. I'll have Bobby to post the finished pic, after I get the V8 and turnsignal indicators installed.
