I have a 88 460 with with 408 hp its backed by a zf 5 speed. The truck has a 1356 transfer case and its got 4.10 gears. The problem is were trying to spin 40s and the stock oem clutch doesnt want to take the abuse. We smoked it this weekend and now come to find out all these big clutch guys are saying no we dont have any thing that we would even recomend for you. Does any one have any ideas?
Perhaps you should look towards a medium duty truck clutch. Only thing I can see is that most of them are set up for large flywheels - 13" or 14" clutch, and I am not sure how that would work at a higher than standard operating RPM. They also offered dual disc clutches in trucks like the F900 - C900, but again, if you are operating at higher than designed RPM, not sure if it would hold together as they are heavy beasts.
Or just swap in a well built automatic and be done with clutch issues for good.
any single disc thats 500 bucks is bout as strong as they get. . .just call centerforce and ask them the power rating on the above part number, dont tell them what you have dont tell them what kinda power you think you have dont tell the idiot anything. just ask him to read whats in his book to make it idiot proof. or for F sake google the part number i gave you and find a rating.
A.) make sure you use a 11in clutch instead of a 10in
B.) use a good aftermarket High Performance clutch...
C.) keep in mind once you delete one weak point another will appear...
