Power Modules, good or bad?

I'm looking to getting one. They claim to give better performance and fuel mileage, and right now mileage is a big thing.

The one I'm looking at is a Jet Performance 89405. I know performance modules have been around for about as long as the OBD1.

I don't think the chip will do much good , you can do the same thing with a timing light , just advance the timing a few degrees , money spent on a good exhaust will help more , the 94 5.0 has a decent roller cam , a set of 1.7 RR will help it out , a tuner or a custom burned chip is the way to go for tuning...also gearing is very important on the 5.0......Lew

I'm more of a plug and play kinda guy. I'm fairly mechanically inclined, but I have no experience working on engines. I was only going by what's advertised by the manufacturer. My goal is to make it as fuel efficient as possible and still have fun. Would a hotter spark from a new ignition be beneficial on a stock motor? something like a MSD or Jacobs.

Most of my driving is highway miles, and I'm not going to take it to the strip. It's got a 3:55 in it now, and I was actually thinking of putting a higher gear (like a 3:27) to see if that will help me out on mileage. I'm planning on doing the exhaust in a couple of weeks, but I don't know what route I want to go with it.

Look up the Six Litre tuneup. It involves a new, higher voltage coil, quality rotor, cap, plugs, and wires, and advancing the timing. On these 90's trucks, it's almost guaranteed to provide more benefit than a "chip" will.

Don't wast your money on any chip. Its next to useless. You can do what the others said and get better results.

Cool. thanks for the info. I'm changing plugs wires and cap this weekend, and I'm looking for the timing how-to now. I've found plenty of stuff on the mustang but not that much on the F150. Is all done the same for the 5.0?

Do you pull the spout before you start the engine or while its running.

Maybe I should change my screen name to Hijacker. That's all I've done this week.

Pulling the SPOUT out while engine running doesn't hurt anything, you actuily hear the engine change back to base timing when you do pull it out.
