Project!!!
Banks is easier than ATS from what I have read(more power too). It comes with 3inch exhaust w/ 3.5 inch tailpipe. It comes with absolutely everything you will need down to anti-sieze and RTV.
Ya, you would come out ahead eventually. Just like turbo'ing your IDI would give you better fuel mileage and therefore save you money.....eventually. But you still don't turbo your truck.
Well you can get a title to that truck in Oklahoma. It is called a Title 42. You fill out the ppw and pay someone 50- bux to process it and you will have a title. As long as there are no liens against the truck.
ADTMAN. Thanks for the info on the service for the title. I just have to call them and see if they have to have the truck in their hands. Cause it doesnt have a front axle right now. lol I am not sure which one would be better. I know that the 7.3 ran when we drove it up on the trailer but that was 2 years ago now. It has just been sitting. The 460 I know runs and runs strong. I would hate to strip the 460 of its parts and get into the 7.3 and have it be weaker. All I would need to do is front axle and steering colum and the 7.3 would be ready to go. then I would have a 460 for parts with a bad tranny.
The 7.3 is always a strong runner if well cared for. However, the 460 will run circles around the 7.3. But like we said, turboing that 7.3 will wake the engine up and it will easily be more powerful than the 7.5.
the 460 averages about half the fuel economy of the idi.....not exaggerating,and that's being kind to the 460 compared to most comments here;
idi-around 17 - 20+
search this section;
1987 - 1996 F150 & Larger F-Series Trucks - Ford Truck Enthusiasts Forums
and you'll hear
6-8 normal average,with a few (i suspect are driving them like cars-out on the hwy and empty) claim peaks of 10-11.
seen the fuel prices lately?
imho,these fuel prices have killed at LEAST these older popular parts (for anyone out actually trying to make a living with their trucks.play toys is something else)
460 gas engine
C6 auto transmission
R.I.P.
that's all iv got to say.

Ok Guys I think that the 1991 7.3 will be the best / easiest fix. I will work on the title. in the mean time. The truck hasnt been run in over a year. other than the flushing of tanks and new lines any suggestions before I try to start her back up. Radiator flush, change oil, change tranny fluid? I would also need a new steering colum as the one that it in it doesnt function. Other than getting the engine going all i would need to do is put an axle under the front. and we should be playing in no time. how do you post pics to the page?
