replacement wiring harnes etc....

I have been debating which route to go. Since the dash is all out and access is as easy as its going to get, I best replace the wiring now. I know i'll regret later if I don't. So........

Painless are good but somewhat Pricey. These guys are inexpensive but I have no experience with them. Anyone ever use this harness? From EzWiring

They also have a slick replacement dash if you look in the products section that I was thinking about as well.

Let me know your thoughts as I want to get moving on the wiring while I have the entire front end out to the Powder Coater.

Thanks all!!

I guess the big difference is the fact that the Painless harness is custom fitted for each vehicle it's sold for.
The Painless harness has all the correct ends/plugs (if I remember correctly) and you just have to splice them on. Does this one have all the plug ends for guage cluster, switches? I can't tell from the picture...

I'm still leaning toward the painless harness...

I put a Painless in my '70. It was very impressive as for fit and completeness. The majority of the ends are already installed with some of them just needing to be cut to fit (i.e. the harness is long enough for a long bed with extra wire length to allow for rerouting). It comes with all the terminals and a very good set of instructions.

I did have one problem which irked me; the harness for the dash was too short and I called Painless. They really came across rudely as though I installed the harness wrong even though the harness layout from the fusebox to the dash was taught and I couldn't see any way I misrouted anything; the harness pluged in on the passenger side of the dash and plain and simple was just too short. The rep promised to send a longer harness to me but it never showed up.

Due to the completeness of the kit, it came with a variety of dash harnesses for a wide range of years and I happenned to have a '69 dash (which was hard wired instead of using a printed circuit). Ultimately I switched out the dashes and used the '69 housing and it fit, just really thought it was bad support for them to not send out a revised harness especially considering the cost of the kit.

I am happy with the kit; everything works good, the kit was made to cover something like 67 to 79 and so it does need a bit of massaging here and there to work. It's nice to have everything functioning (down to the little light inside the cigarette lighter housing).

Ditto on the Painless Kit

I put a Painless harness in a truck I finished over the winter. It was a little more spendy, but I believe it was worth it. It came with almost everything I needed and I was able to use some stuff from the old harness to complete it. I would recomend one. I will be replacing the entire harness in my Merc with one from Painless.

I don't know of anyone who has tried the other brand you mentioned, but....someone has to go first right?
