They failed to mention a need for the Ex. To pull campers and bring a large family along so we won't need to bring 2 vehicles. The nerve of them calling the Ex a flop.
Let them call it a flop. That way we can pick them up cheaper. I just bought my 2000 Ex with 92k on the clock for $5000 . It has a v10 and in great condition. In the last month I put on some rs9000 shocks, Firestone air bags, Gibson cat back stainless, Scan Gauge II, I bought this to pull my 30ft TT and carry the family at the same time. The gas does suck but what do you expect from something pulling 8-9k and carrying you entire family and dog. After my first trip pulling the 30ft TT I had the trans rebuilt. It realy only needed the front pump seal but I wanted piece of mind the trans was going to last. I now have a total of $10000 into the EX with all the add ons and the Trans and the original purchace. The Ex sold for almost $50k when new so to me $10-15k for a vehicle that will last me and do what I want is well worth it.
Wow! $5000...thats the best deal I've seen yet. Did you have to do anything to it right off the bat? I thought my 2003 Limited 6.8 with dvd, rear buckets and 126k miles was a good deal at $11k. Nice!
They sold 50K in what 2000 alone?...thats 20K More then they sold gen 2 lightnings in all six years combined. And that got the same or worse gas mileage...These people are just retarded.

It realy needed nothing. The Ex passed Pa. emmisions and inspection with flying colors. The muffler was starting to rust out a little so I replaced the exhaust. The shocks were only for my comfort. Tha air bags to help with the heavy loads it will be pulling. The scan gauge to play with when driving and monitor the trans temps. It may have gone another 100k miles on the original trans too. It started leaking from the pumps seal after I pushed it to hard backing into my drive way. I also added a brand new 31 row 6.0 trans cooler too. I love my Ex. I hope to get may years out of it. I also have priced a new engine from ford just in case down the road. My price would be $3500 for a new v10. Of coarse I would need a few more parts at the time and someone to swap it. But even if it cost me around 5k I would only have 15k invested into a Ex with a brand new motor and trans.
I posted this in the other thread on the same article:
I'm always amazed at how large SUV's (Excursion or Suburban) are demonized for their poor MPG, but the same vehicle with a bed on it isn't (F250-F350 Super Duty or other full size trucks). When I see large SUV's they usually have 2 or more kids with at least one adult. Almost every full size truck I see has only one occupant. So which is worse?
The X just made a big target for the enviro-wackos!
Deal? I spent $4k on my 2000 v10 limited. spent another $2k on 6" lift kit and wheels and cant be happier. I could never justify spending an additional $10k for a diesel motor just to save 5mpg. i just got a $4k 30mpg 2003 focus wagon w/ 68k mi. for my daily commute. A total $10k invested still beats driving new suv with a loan anyday.
After financing my wifes 06 odyssey I have a whole new prospective on these things
Not all people are as smart as Excursion owners....
Yahoo was sly in that article to not allow comments on it. I would have used all the words not allowed in my response to the article. The Excursion may be one of the most versatile vehicles every produced.
