On second thought we could stage a rally to San Juan Capistrano and converge on the city hall with all of our slicks. I would even leave this one in the mayors lawn as a token of my esteem.....
Not like it'll likely do any good...all these politicians are scumbags. I say we all inundate
the guy with emails from all over the country and stick up for the trucks owner.
When are governments going to get it through their thick heads that they work FOR US! I am so sick and tired of hearing about stories like this. I had the same thing happen to me but luckily I was notified (in person) and able to move the vehicle into the garage. Liberals think that they are the royal ruling class in this nation. They don't want to offend their Tree hugging, Prius driving, (insert profanity here) or people here ILLEGALLY that shouldn't have any voice here anyway but they have no problem offending us, insulting us, stealing what is rightfully and legally ours and forcing their will on us. Essentially RAPING US! I know this thread is supposed to be about one mans truck and not a political conversation but, it's not. It's about all of us who are law abiding citizens and our freedoms and rights, not just being violated but being taken away altogether, along with our old trucks. We need to understand that this nation from the federal level all the way down to the local level is in the midst of a civil war. Not one fought with guns but with with freedoms, rights and liberties. These are our weapons and the governments are trying to disarm us. Time to wake up people and realize we can no longer just be content with taking care of our own life and not get involved. We must hold on to our freedoms with every bit of fight we have. Sorry for the rant but I felt it needed to be said.
From the Mayor - "Thank-you for taking the time to relate your concerns for Mr. Davis’ truck. Please be assured that you have only received one side of the story in the newspaper and there is always the other side to the story. I have already looked into this situation and from my research, the City was on solid ground in doing what, unfortunately, needed to be done after citizens’ complaints were received. Due to the possibility of litigation in these type cases, I am unable to make any further comment.

I think Davis should complain that his local government is inoperable and therefore needs towed and crushed...
The socialist, nanny-state, control-freaks exist at all levels, from the school boards to the homeowners associations to the city, state and federal governments.
And they exist in BOTH parties...more in one than the other, but they're always there....like a disease. You can spot them easily because they think they're the smartest one in the room and think that their ideas and plans need to be implemented in order to "help" and "protect" the rest of us dolts.
Most of all, freedom scares them. They can't handle it, because they need control.
Vote these people out, anywhere and everywhere you find them.
As for the truck....I emailed the mayor as well. No response from this particular control-freak. (I mean dang...why do they have to CRUSH the truck?!!!) Even if the owner is being a bad guy about things....you really have to CRUSH the truck?!!

X2, I agree with 100% of the above and I think most of us do, so why are we headed in the wrong direction?
The problem IMHO is that we're always making new laws every day and never getting rid of the old ones, so we will eventually have to lose all of our freedoms.
Also, people aren't thinking about freedom anymore, they vote for what they want personally. So when a new restriction comes up (gun control, cigarette smoking, having an old truck etc.) people don't vote while thinking "does this violate the freedoms that our service men have died to protect?" they think "I don't have a gun or smoke or have an old truck so sure, why not." This type of thinking will leave us with only what the majority of everyone wants to do, which isn't much and is always changing. In the 50's everyone did want to smoke, not now.
Just so you know I don't smoke, but I have voted against extra taxes on cigarettes that were unfair and had no reasoning behind them, not because I want to smoke, but because soldiers have died to protect your right to smoke if you want to.
Thanks for taking the time to air your comments to me. You are however reacting to one side of the story and I would caution you on believing everything you read in the newspapers. You know what they say about “what you hear or read in the papers”. There is a bigger story here on which I am limited to speak because this could turn into a lawsuit. But aside from that, I can assure you that Mr. Davis is an American citizen protected by due process of the law and his case will be handled in accordance to that law that protects us all. If there has been an error in the “taking” of his vehicle, it will be remedied. If not, then we will follow the law to the letter.
Respectfully,

...In the taking? I guess he didn't like the fact I accused them of stealing his truck off his property. I checked to see who the Senator was for the 38th district, which is Mark Wyland (senator.wyland@sen.ca.gov). A check of SEMA shows he isn't a supporter of car collectors either. The Assemblyman for the 38th, Cameron Smyth (assemblymember.smyth@assembly.ca.gov), is also not listed. Maybe some more emails need to be sent to these higher-ups...
