Yes running it on a higher level can get you better mileage. Reason being is its not working as hard as it is a a stock level. But you will boost out faster, egts will go up faster etc. You have to learn to use the top of the pedal and not be the first through the lite. You will get a million varying opinions on here so go with your gut.

Superchip made in Sanford Fla. is the best, most reliable programmer on the mkt, from my personal use point-of-view. Programmed 2006 F-350 6.0, and loved it. Used the economy setting exclusively, for regular driving and towing 5th whl. Advised by a diesel tech not to tow in the performance mode. Besides, the economy mode is plenty powerful, and results in fuel economy of about 16-17 in town, 19-22 MPG hiway. Pretty good for 7000 LB truck.

I dont really care what anyone believes.
I smell a new tranny in the future.

I'm with Tex. You are on borrowed time. As I mentioned before, I ran the edge for a year. Drove the truck hard and had absolutely no signs of any issues. Then one fine summer day tranny went into limp mode and ta da new tranny needed. Tranny was installed by a reputable diesel performance shop. He couldn't believe how trashed the torque converter and other internals were.

No one is attacking you personally or your truck. Just giving our opinions, as is meant in a forum.

Tex, you can lead a horse to water. But you can't force it to drink.

Yes I accept any and all opinions and realize they differ from person to person. I just dont appreciate comments like if you actually have what you say. It implies that Im making it up. I bought my truck jan 17th 03 and have spent over $50k above what I paid for it. I chose that over a new truck because I have faith in this one. Just my 2 cents.

I'm nowhere near being jealous of your truck. Why you ask? Because if mine leaves me stranded I know it's because it's just it's time to go, you don't have that luxury. You might think you do, but you don't.

You better care at least a little bit about what people believe. That's the one think that makes forums like this work. The belief that what the poster says is kosher, otherwise why waste your time posting.

Addressing the comment about your not liking my saying in essence your making this stuff up. Yes I am hesitant in believing everything, it doesn't make logical sense and if it doesn't make sense, more often then not it's not true. Not all the time mind you, but at least 51% of the time. Like I said before I'm missing something in your case that helps to reconcile everything.

Spending 50k above the cost of the truck means squat as that could also go into a/v parts as well which has nothing to do with this conversation. Also just because you spent that much doesn't really mean you made it more reliable, it just means you spent that much more money on your truck. I've spent far less than that and I'm willing to bet my truck would be able to hold it's own even against yours.

I'm not sure why I'm jumping in here...I have a plain stock 06 F250 with a 6.0. I was actually trying to research the Edge tuners when I ran across this thread. Having said that, I don't understand why people are giving Fordnatic such a hard time. The guy has openly admitted that he has added mods to his rig that very well may damage it. He's also openly admitted that he beats the s*#t out of it on a regular basis, and wouldn't be surprised if something breaks. He even commented that if it breaks, he'll just rebuild it. What's the problem??

I think it comes down to a difference in mentality, and what YOU want from YOUR vehicle. No one is wrong, just different. I baby my truck. It is my everyday driver, and the nicest vehicle I have ever owned personally. I would like to boost the performance a little, but will NOT do anything to risk it's life. I'm 35 with 3 small kids and the money I paid for it was hard earned. I can't afford to risk breaking it. HOWEVER....I have an 86 Jeep CJ7 that is a TOY (much like it sounds fordnatics truck is). When I take it out in the woods, I push it to the limit and then some. I'm actually surprised if something doesn't break. If it does I make it better, when I have the money. I like pushing it as far as it will go to see what happens. Just like Fordnatic is with his truck. It's HIS, nothing wrong with that. There was a comment about it leaving him sit...I don't think some get it, he doesn't give a **** if it let's him sit. He'll probably laugh over a cold beer with his buddys about just how far he had to go to get it to break. That's what's fun for him.

Different strokes for different folks (no pun intended). I can appreciate treating your vehicle in a way that you hope to make it last for a long time. But, I can also appreciate the fun that is to be had in being a guy who wants to push the envelope as far as he can with no concern about the consequences. Keep doing whatever makes you happy, I enjoyed the chat!!

Ditto on those thouhts. FYI, when everyone talks about Edge tuners, please don't throw the Evolution into the same shift-on-the-fly pile as the others. I have to turn off my truck to switch tunes. Never really use them though. In the same boat as Hobo here. I fix enough under the hood, I don't need to crawl under the truck to fix the tranny.

It's not the different strokes for different folks part, it's that something doesn't quite ring true with what he says. That's my issue more then anything else.

In all honesty, it doesn't affect me one way or the other if people's trucks leave them stranded or not, their truck isn't mine.
