Not needed, ok. But lemme ask you this, IF a person can afford it, would you agree that the preventive-maintenance/upgrade-over-stock aspect of adding the springs and head studs (forget the pushrods for now) isn't a waste of time?
I want more power (don't we always?) but safe and reliable are two things that figure greatly into MY equation, so I'm thinking of playing it safe by keeping my AC's and just replacing the nozzles.

You could throw Studs in it, but with the proper turbo set up you will not (under normal examples) have issues with lifting the head...
Thats where I was with doing the AC's... They are new, they are a slight bump in output and they make little smoke, dont over fuel and are easy to tune...
Me neither, that's one of the reasons I went with the AC's almost two years ago. I'm just finding myself wanting more, but not wanting to replace the whole injector.
While I was in there I was thinking head studs and valve springs (studs are just a maybe right now, but I do wanna upgrade the springs) would be a good idea. I'm sure that's what Nick is thinking too.
Heh, if money wasn't an option, I'd just have WOP build me a long block and be done with it.
Well now I am at a complete loss. I was planning on hybrids but now everyone is saying not to. I think I am having a hard time realizing that the 7.3 can't make good power. I have a call into Dp tuner and need to talk some things over with him then I will make my choice. I wish I had all the computers and wiring harnesses to make that spare 6.0 I have drop right it that would be a sweet setup good power an reliability.
F the naysayers! Go with some hybrids and studs and enjoy it. How many blown engines have we seen on this forum that were damn near stock? How many guys at RRE were rocking a 38r and hybrids and hit the track all day??? Who broke down that day? No one..
Every mod we do other than a better air filter or a free flowing exhaust impacts the life span of our engines. It's the name of them game. Do what you wanna do.. I'd say go hybrids and a t4 set-up... then an h2e, gt4294, S400, ect ect... Then you can revisit this engine later down the road and if you wanna go big you can.. if you wanna stay w/ the h2e or other charger then stay there..
If you are really concerned I would say cryo some forged rods and balance them. I got a set at the shop if you want them...
And all of your trucks will never be as good as my trucks.. just saying..

100% nozzles and you would be stoked... 400hp easy.
Well here is a up date. So far the list is Hybrids 238's with 80% nozzles, studs, springs, Fluidamper. Thats it for performance, the rest is new water pump, TE thermostat, Re seal the front cover, re seal the oil cooler, possibly power coat a few things, deck the exhaust manifolds, re seal the oil pan and re seal and re oring some other stuff and then its all good to go. Hoping to have her back together and running in 3 weeks.
Here are some pics so far and lots more to follow as the build progresses.
Hey so I got some more work done. Oil pan, front cover, oil jets are out waiting to be welded. Today I am going to clean the sealing surfaces for the front cover and front cover. I want to paint the motor caterpillar yellow, heads black and valve cover cat yellow so I am sanding the paint on the motor now to rough it up so the paint will stick. Do you guys think the yellow and black theme will look good or to much like a bumble bee?
