Thinking about doing a small build and need input.
Well finally decided to give the 7.3 a little bit of love. I had a injector going out and then another once decided to quit so I started thinking new injectors to just start over because there at 197,000 right now. Then yesterday I had my HPOP line rub through my hard fuel line feeding the fuel bowl  The truck also has quite a few oil leaks one being the pan so I decided to pull the engine out and I am in the process of that right now. So I figure since I will have it out I want to do some things that would be easier to get at because the motor is out. For the top end I am going to do ARP head studs and Comp 911 springs. Here is where I start getting questions. I have heard good about the Gearhead cam and I am thinking hard about that since the motor is out, any one have any experience with it? Another is my Rods, I have forged but thinking about sending them to Wide Open to get them CRYO treated but do you guys think it is worth it? Also what about partially filling my block I hear a lot about it but what is getting filled, the water jackets? I tried searching but could not find the answer. And finally Injectors, I am on the fence between Full Force Stage Twos or Hybrids. I know Stage twos would be a great option with Terminator twins but don't want to spend that much right now for big oil so that it why I am leaning towards Hybrids. Any input on that would be awesome,
Thanks,
Nick
I don't know the details on a lot of what you asked, but from what I can understand, if you use the truck regularly, you wouldn't want to fill the block. I think it's filling the water jackets, that is done on high HP motors to make them more "solid" and one less thing to go wrong (coolant).
What's it cost to have the rods cryo'ed? I imagine it's expensive, and depending on your desired HP, is it necessary? But if you have the motor out and apart, opportunity cost is there (just did that with my semi trans, had to put a new clutch in, decided to send the trans in since it was laying on the floor, and it was a good thing cuz they had to rebuild the whole thing; hate to think of the cost if it went out when I was on the road: tow, pull trans again, down time not hauling loads, etc)
You'd have to talk to Cory about his build, he put a gearhead cam in, I can't remember if head work is necessary or desired to go along with the cam.
I'll sell you my '99 for a backup!
Side note: should be getting some tunes this weekend for the '08, and if Andrew will ever ship the delete pipe, I could be cutting donuts! None too soon, I think my DPF is cracked, getting a code all the time saying exhaust temps are too high, sensor #2 is reading 1500* pretty constantly, cruising down the highway egr temps are over 1000*. So it's sitting in the shop till the pipe shows up.
That was my thought on filled blocks but I a recall correctly Joey at TE has his 95 crew cab block partially filled and he tows with it and on PSN a guy named charles has his block filled partially and he tows with it long distance.
On the Cryoing I saw on there web sight rods that were magnafluxed and cryoed for 500, so I was thinking it might be cheaper to send in mine and have them do it.
Glad to hear your 08 is coming along and defiantly don't drive it with those temps. I hate to say it but with temps that high you might have a injector hanging open, what tuner did you go with?

Pop, tried to rep you, but I'm in jail... THX for the evening laugh, it's been a minute since I saw that video. One of the funniest things I've seen. (I remember the threads )
just a question but would a block girdle be a better option than partially filling the block? if the motor is out and the pan is off it would be easy to install or do these not help?
