I don't know what tranny is in the truck? This can be a complete SNOWBALL effect just from an oil pan leak...
Another option would be to wait to find a motor with forged rods, put your studs, springs with shims, find youself some hybrids... then swap motors. Sell or do a full build on yours with all the goodies, that way you can save and do it right the first time.
