My 1991 Xlt has the power locks which I hate but am stuck with. From the day I purchased the truck the lock switch on the driver door never worked the passenger locks but the passenger side switch worked. Not to big of an issue for me until the passenger side switch stopped working also. Im not really sure if its the switch that went bad or the electric motor or solenoid. Any ideas that would fix this or should i go buy a new lock assembly? Thanks guys
If I had to guess I would say that one or more of the wires inside the little rubber pipe between the door pillar and the door are broken.
You should check that there is 12v at the lock switch. If there is then operate the switch and check for 12v at the lock actuator (inside the door). If there is, then check that there is a good ground to the actuator.
If all is good then the actuator may be bad.
