im wanting to change my interior in my truck from blue to ether gray or tan ( the truck is gana be painted red and white). i was wandering whats the best interior paint is the best for the money which one covers best and lasts the longest ,i know some might say buy new pannels but thats out of the question the pannels are in great shape so im going to use them . thanks kole
I used dupli color vinyl paint, actual plastic rustoleum paint, and undercoating. They all seem to scratch real easy. Between trials I sanded the other clean off and used water and alcohol to clean and then used several clear coats. It really is dissapointing to have them scratch so easy.
I used Colorbond from LMC......Looks good...But as previously stated, it scratches easily....Seems the dash is a bit tougher after it sits in the sun for a few days.....
also...>NEVER USE ANY SORT OF WAX/GREASE REMOVER!......It'll take the paint with it....
Its really dang irritating that all these stuff scratches so easy. My vinyl dye for the seats, the thing I thought was going to be the is the best. The rest of the trim all have atleast 1 scratch spot on them. I figure that I may pull a panel at a time and then use adhesion promoter and then bake it in an oven at like 200 degrees for a while. Just have to be careful its not too hot.
I used SEM on my interior. Seems pretty scratch resistant. I even dropped a few pieces on concrete before install with no chips, scratches, etc.
I washed all my parts with soap and water. Then I applied SEM Adhesion Promoter per instructions. Then I sprayed the color per instructions.
I had a lot of interior to paint being a super cab, so I went to my local paint supplier and had them mix me some SEM Color Coat, in quarts. Then I sprayed it with my HVLP gun. Might want to check prices at a few places though. My first quart cost me around $45. Ran out and picked up another quart a couple months later and it had jumped to $58.
