Chrome package - mirror caps?
Are the mirrors the same between the chrome package and non-chrome package? As in if I pull off the caps is the mirror casing the same or is there a different casing that lets the mirror cap attach to?
Some of the trucks I am coming across have the chrome package and I'm thinking I may just settle for that and rip off the caps.

Try searching the threads. There was a discussion about someone wanting to either do the same as you or vice versa. And there was another thread on a guy who hit a turkey with his mirror and had to rebuild it. I think in that thread there were some parts discussions.

Here is the thread that shows the parts diagram. It looks like sportscraft wanted to add them. Might want to check with him on what he did. Not clear from the discussion but it looks like the mirror back is one piece.
