I like the look of the chrome mirror caps that come with the chrome package/higher trim level superdutys and would like to mimic the look with some aftermarket mirror caps for my XLT. It looks like I can get a pair on eBay for $20, or from a half dozen online stores for up to $60. They all look the same to me.
Any one have a set of aftermarket mirror caps, chrome or paint to match that you're happy with? Where did you get them? Thanks!
Mine are amazon specials. 25 bucks. I have a few photos in an album you can look at. They have been on about a year and still look new. They aren't coming off unless you want them to either. I have pulled on them a few times just to see
My left one fell off once, I couldn't tell why.
I saw a video but it was too poor to see how the caps latch.
Does anyone have any good pictures of how the latch works?

Look for a YouTube video titled: 2008 Mirror conversion full install by Anthony Youngblood.
Towards the end he addresses the tabs or clips that lock the caps in place.
I ordered a set of full plastic chrome cape for my last truck and they lasted for 8 yrs without any problems. I got them not just for the looks but to help keep the mirrors from breaking in an impact, I actually had two people cross the center line on a narrow two lane road where I live, the first time it broke a 700 dollar mirror when I did not have them, the second time it just broke the cap and shattered his mirror. They just stick on with the 3m adhesive tape, you can buy some extra tape at auto zone, a little extra tape helps keep them on if they don't come with enough with the kit. Well worth the cost.
I just ordered a pair but who knows when I'll put them on. It's -11 outside right now and my truck doesn't fit in my garage which is unheated anyway! I haven't been able to wash it since I picked it up last Friday and it's driving me nuts...

That's a heat wave. Here's what I had this morning!
But back on topic, I do like the idea of the caps to dress it up a little. My only other experience was buying a pair of mirrors off ebay with them already on after I'd broken one on a 2013 F150. The pair was much cheaper than a single one from Ford.
