08-16 Tow Mirror Painted Covers
I picked up a set of new take off towing mirrors off a 2016 F250. They are the plain black mirrors, not the ones with the chrome caps. The truck they came off was a 16 XLT, the mirrors are power and have the lights, but no power fold and power extend. I know the fancier trucks that came with the mirrors with the chrome caps have the power fold and all that, but what I want to do with my mirrors is add an OEM type painted top mirror cap. The trucks with the chrome caps have a removable cap, but iv heard that the plain mirrors that I have do NOT have a removable top cap. Has anyone messed with these or know for sure? I'd like to add the painted covers for a nice accent. Thanks!

When i had my 2010 with the power glass but manual fold trailer mirrors I wanted to do the same thing. Unfortunately, the ones with the chrome/painted cap are able to be interchanged, but the mirrors that are black plastic the cap is not changeable. If I remember correctly I found a set of stick on caps that went over the black mirrors that could be painted. Traded the truck before I got around to the upgrade..but your google-fo might be of assistance in finding them again.

Thanks Nick! I read the same thing, that the plain black mirrors have a fixed cover and the painted or chrome covers can not be added. Iv been looking at the aftermarket covers you are talking about and it looks like I will have to just get a set and have them painted... Ohh well. Thanks!
