I have a 1980 f-600 ford with a 4 speed manual. Where can I Purchase a new speddometer cable?
so have you figured out which trans you have?
and or do you have a 2 speed rear axle? a 2 speedaxle has a cable that seems to be about a mile long since it will go to the rearend and not the trans.
if you are lucky you might have NP435 trans which might be the same cable as a 1980 2WD f-150 with that trans.

What's wrong with the cable? Is its outer housing kinked, or is there another issue?
The speedo cable is composed of two parts: Outer housing, inner woven steel core. The steel core is supposed to be lubricated every so often, but most peeps are unaware of this.
When the lube dries out, the steel core binds up inside the housing and snaps.
Autoparts stores sell a replacement woven steel core kit. You cut it to length, coat it with a fine film of graphite, install it in the housing.
