Another front spring question

I have been reading on springs here lately and I have found some U code springs locally, real reasonable. Would they work well on my X or should I wait for some v codes?

According to my notes (most all info from this forum) your PSD EX should have stock D codes (4080#) on it and the U's (4800#) should provide about 1.32" (new, if used maybe a little less) of lift, based on new stockers, so factor in your sag. The V's (5200#) would give about 1.5" of lift. Not a lot of difference, if the deal is sweet enough and the U's are fairly low mileage and you are resting on your bumpstops I'd go fer it.
Good luck!

The guy claims they were taken off when new for a lift. I am hoping to acquire them for $50.

That's a great price and if they were new when removed they should give you some decent additional front suspension travel. How many miles do you have on your rig and how much space to the front bumpstops?

Currently at 196k and I measured about 1.25" between the bump stops and the spring.

If those U springs still look new-ish they should provide some improvement. I was down to 1.25-1.5" with 75K miles on my '05 V-10.

I mis-typed. I just checked the clearance up close just now and there is just over 0.25" clearance. I think it is time to do something.

Is there a way I can identify if the springs are indeed U-code? He listed them with a number of YC35ALC from an 02 F250 4x4 with a 7.3L.

Thanks a ton!

Yeah, a quarter inch isn't much travel for a 7000lb truck!
The only list I have is supposed to be for 2003 models and it gives 2C34-5310-ACB for the U codes. I don't even see an 'ALC' suffix on anything from my 2003 list. Sometimes these springs really jump around with Ford's numbering, my rear B codes didn't perfectly match up with any listing I could find.
Does the seller still have the original truck? If so you could check the door jamb sticker for the factory codes.
Hopefully someone else will chime in here with some better info than I have.
Good luck!

Turns out the seller was a member of our local PSD club. I got them for $50 and they look brand new Installed them a week ago and they gave me a little over 1.25" more suspension travel and a better ride.

Thanks for the help!

Isn't it amazing how putting on heavier springs actually improves the ride?
Glad it all worked out for you, great price too!

Almost makes you think it defies a bit of logic, soft spring soft ride. Now I have to dial in the 9000xl's I installed last night.
