Was attempting to install new hinges tonight on my 66 F100 when upon pulling out the drivers side hinge one of the bolts that bolts to the cowl wouldn't come out. Seems the nut on the back is stuck and spinning.
How in the world do you get inside the cowl to put a wrench on the nut? Am I going to have to cut the bolt off? argghhh.
Ah well, at least it's not my daily driver.
Also the replacement hinges I bought from Melvins don't seem to line up quite right. There's about a half inch gap at the top bolts if I put the new hinge in the the same location as the old one
Any thoughts?
Hood hinge or door hinge? I wish the earlier advice was possible, but if it is a hood hinge nut, you will have to cut it off. Door hinge bolts and nuts can be an even greater difficulty.
There are TWO different types of upper door hinges.
1961/63 & 1964 F100/1100 before serial number 490,001:
4) C4TZ-8122800-A (replaced C1TB-8122800-A) .. Upper/Lower Right/Left Door Hinge.
These are actually right sides, you have to reverse the hinge pin to use on the left sides.

Your screwed if its the hood hinge. I had the same thing happen yesterday when I took my hinges off. No access to the back side that I know of, short of taking everything apart. I actually just pried gently with a pry bar, and spun with my impact until the entire thing popped thru. Left me with a hole the size of a quarter, which in my case is not a big deal with all the welding and repairs I have to do anyway.
