im currently looking for a y pipe for a 90 5.0 with no cats, i have yet to come across one. i thought i saw one in summit or jegs but cant find it again. looking for one for a reasonable price any ideas? thanks
Jegs has them. All will be around $200. If you have a welder you can build your own as I did.
ten four thanks..i hate a quiet truck, my truck right now has one cat gone but still has the one right as it ys off. only has a glass pack and its got very little tone at the rear exit but u cant here it at the cab..about how much did it run to to build your own? thanks
Be sure to look at that thread...I have the detail on there, but to summarize.
I built my own mandrel y with a few parts from summit....about $80....and good day of fitting and welding. Wow...what a difference. I purchased 2 2.5" u-bends, a magnaflow merge collector and one stick of 4 foot 2.5 pipe. No cats.
sorry about that i didnt see the thread link till i had already posted..i checked out the thread it looks awesome man good job..did you use stock manifold or those shorty headers? i was thinking about trying to make a y pipe to work with a set of long tubes but pics of your looks like my trannys might be in the way..
Lightning Shorty Headers....that is why I used 2.5" pipe. There is a difference in flange sizes from the shorty headers and stock manifolds (much smaller).
With longtubes you would have to crossover later behind the tranny and then merge....it would be a much different looking y pipe, but it could be done, I'm sure.
yeah i shoulda known they wernt manifolds when i read you used 2.5in tubing wasnt thinking i guess lol...since u have been under there fitting yours and all, do u think its possible to build a y pipe for a set of long tube headers? or do u think the tranns is in the way?

You would probably have to run the driver's side pipe straight back until the rear of the transmission, and then cross over to the passenger's side. That is how the Lightning guys always do it, but they are 2WD.
This is mine, decided to ditch the front tank and go with true duals. I have since ditched the tips, as they sounded like crap

I went back and added this while your were typing...lol...same thing as hi-volt saiz

looks good thanks for the pics..mines a 2wd also, i may end up just runing them stright back off longs and dumping at the axle depending if any things in the way or not. front tank may be not sure.

Yes, you won't be able to do that with the front tank still there, it's right behind the trans crossmember.

thats exactly what i was thinking..ill probly end up buidling a y pipe and just bring it all back to the passenger side since there more room over there any ways.
