I have not had the batteries load tested yet. I do not have actual tester, can I use a multimeter to this in some way?
You can check the glowplugs with a multimeter but you can't load test the batteries. Any parts store should be able to load test your batteries, you just have to remove one ground cable and do them separately.
Thanks Texans! I don't want to sound like an idiot, but I am new to the diesel engine. The 6.0 has absolutely no room to do anything. Where exactly are they located so I can ohm them out individually? Would they be around the same area as a spark plug on a gas V8?
If you look below the valve cover you will see a wire harness the goes from cylinder to cylinder (thats the glow plug harnness), flow that harnness up to the top of the valve cover and you will see a connector that has a red tab on it. Disconect there and test each pin (there are 4 of them one for each glow plug). There is one on each side. If you find out you have a bad glow plug, be very carefull removing the harnness from them. They are very brittle and brake very easily. If you do break one they are somewhere around $75-100 at the dealler.
Thank you very much! I found the plug on each side with the red tab. I tested each pin to ground while set on ohms and every pin was anywhere from 1.1 to 1.5. From what I gather they should all be good. What should be my next step??
check connections on ficm. after that im pretty sure you will have to go to ford to have them do the balance test on the injectors. if one is bad on a cold start they will know
