in dash warning with gas cap

driving down the highway 2 days ago , looked at dash and notice pic of truck with gas cap off. stopped and took off gas cap and re-installed. drove 15 miles and stayed on. made appointment with dealer that day for the next day. driving home that night it went off. called dealer and told them was all set , maybe was just a loose cap. but driving in today light came on again .. making another appointment for tommorrow. is this a common problem.. is it the gas cap or something more in the system. truck is a 2010 with 6,800 miles. hope this isnt the start of gremlins.

when i talked to there head mechanic on tuesday and asked about just changing the cap he recommended to still bring it in and have it checked out . with 6900 miles should not have a bad cap. ..fill u in when i find out.

I think that is good advice, because what the DTC is telling you is that the system is not holding vacuum. That does not necessarily mean it is bad cap. It could be a vacuum leak anywhere in the vapor recovery system. You want them to inspect the system on such a new vehicle.
