Exhaust System

Good people,

Got a 06 Strokin 6.0 F250 and looking to upgrade the exhaust system. I have found this one at Summit Racing, wondering yall's opinion on it if you can give one. Its a 4 in turbo back glasspack system. I will probably get a 5 in tip to top it all off. Thanks!

I would say, to each his own. However, I would not put it on my truck. The exhaust on our trucks is made from Stainless Steel and will last a long time. The system you are looking at is aluminized steel and will not last as long as the stock system. That being said, what is your goal in the exhaust system? Better flow for lower EGT’s? Louder sound? Also the system you are looking at requires you to install the cat as well, of course it could still be deleted.

Ken,

Thanks for your response! My main goal with the system are, SOUND. I want a louder sound most definitely. I guess a good second would be the slight performance/gas mileage boost from it as well. I am not sure of the significance of EGT, or what EGT is for that matter...I believe it stands for Exhaust Gas Temperature? I am new to Diesels, and am still learning all these acronyms, EGR, EGT, etc...theres a bunch, lol

Everyone has their thing they like about their exhaust. One thing Id pass on for anyone to consider is if youre chipped n modded and you pull a trailer regularly just do the math on cleanin the black off the trailer regularly. Hence the reason for stacks on my beast, redneck or not it saved alot of scrubbin!

Sorry Gean
I went through the same thing with the acronyms. EGT’s Exhaust Gas Temp a few others you will run into.
EOT Engine oil temp
ECT Engine coolant temp
HPOP High pressure oil pump
LPOP Low pressure oil pump
The rest you will probably figure out. If you are mostly looking for sound you may want to consider a delete pipe, either for the cat, the muffler or both. There again not my first choice, if I could have it my way, my truck would be completely silent with the free flow of a strait pipe. Unfortunately, the laws of thermodynamics make that impossible. There are a lot of threads on exhaust mods, do a search to get a better idea. It seems like many guys delete the cat and get the happy medium of a louder note with a lot of turbo whine, but not so loud that it kills you in the cab going down the interstate. Of course, state vehicle inspections could become a serious issue depending on where you live.

I have a 4"" out of the turbo back stainless steel preformance magnaflow exhaust mine sounds like a jet. I have learned this whistle is because of the turbo used on 03-early 04. no other years whistle like 03-04. And it is supposed to reduce EGTs. And fwiw summit racing seams to be fairly high priced

check ebay. i love my aluminized exhaust and it shows no signs of deteriorating. they are great exhaust systems and normally come with a lifetime warranty on things like that so no need to worry. alot of us run mbrp and thats what i recommend along with silverline. go to xdp.com and look at the silverline. got my brothers for 299.00 with free shipping. great system!!! the sound is awesome!!!

Thanks for this and for all the info. Now RDunagan, as for as this Silverline system, what do they mean when they say Off-Road use only?

Thanks for the info on the acronyms Ken, shedding some light for me, lol

Also, RDunagan, you mentioned, most of us run "mbrp", what is that exactly?

Gene, where are you located ?
If up north where they salt the roads, you probably do want to steer clear of aluminized... unless they offer a lifetime warranty no mater what

But here in 'de sowth' I put alum on my 03 and had no issues in 3 years, but on my 05 I opted to just replace the 100 lb stock muffler with lifetime warranty walker btm muffler - has sounds and a 200 degree drop in egt's (that's a good thing for tuned trucks!)

some FTE threads on it:

https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/9...tructions.html
https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/9...k-muffler.html
https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/7...alker-btm.html

good luck and get it tuned soon

off road use only as in it deletes the cat. which is what most everyone does on here. unless you live in cali you will be fine with it. MBRP is another man. of exhaust systems. but if i had to do it over again the silverline which i installed on my bros truck is just as good and a couple hundred cheaper id buy it instead of the mbrp. they make a good point though. if you live up north spend the extra money to get the stainless steel. i just read and the t304 silverline has a lifetime warranty. if you live where the snow and ice is minimal or none then get the aluminized like i did and you will be super happy with it

GeneLaw1 where at in ga or atlanta are you.
i have a 06 with a 4 inch mbrp turbo back off road exhaust and love it. it does have a little bit of the turbo wistle, at idle it sounds like a jet. i also when with the aluminumized kit because i live south of atlanta. im not worried about the little bit of snow we get around here. if they salt the roads because of snow, i would wait till the first good rain to wash it off the road then wash the bottom of my truck just to try and get rid oof all that crap. the mbrp kit i have is nice and calm during nice and calm driving but if i get on boy it sure sounds good. i open the back sliding glass just to listen to it. you can hear the trubo wistle everytime you let off of it and get back on it. my wife laughed the first time she heard it. she said "thats kool"

let us know which way you go and how you like it when you put it on.
