1959 ford panel speedometer gear

Looking to find what number of teeth for the speedometer drive gear to use.3 speed manual ,292 motor.Transmission tag HEFAU 044538

Which speedometer drive gear (on the output shaft) and/or speedometer driven gear (end of the speedo cable) is correct...depends on several factors.

Trans type, rear axle ratio, tire size. The engine size usually has nothing to do with it.

HEF-AU: Ford type 3.03 3 speed manual all sycromesh transmission.

Applications: 1963/64 F100/250 292 installed in these trucks with 114" & 120" wheelbases.

The type 3.03 was introduced in 1963 Passenger Cars, F100/250's. Would not have been factory installed in anything earlier. This trans has many other applications after 1964 and was used thru 1987.
