PLEASE HELP!! '95 Explorer 2wd transmission problems
I have a '95 Explorer 4.0 V6 that I had the transmission rebuilt in. It was a bench rebuild, and only had 4200 miles on it. Now, for the past couple of days it has delayed engaging when put into drive. It does fine with reverse, but drive or the other lower gears (D,2,1) has a delay in engaging. This morning it won't engage in Drive at all (and not in the lower gears either) It will shift into Reverse just fine, it is full of transmission fluid and it still has the pinkish tint to the fluid. What could possibly be the problem? I need to figure it out fast cause it left me stranded this morning, and Im a single mother of two with this vehicle being my only means of transportation.
** On a side note, I bought this car used from a friend and the O/D light was flashing. He told me that he had two seperate mechanics look at it and concluded that it was a "computer" problem. I drove the explorer for a year and a half like this (and even with the O/D light flashing you could still push the button on the gear shifter and feel it engage). Then the transmission quit and I had it rebuilt. Everyting was redone including a new torque converter. Once we put the rebuilt transmission in the O/D light quit flashing temporarily until about 150 miles was put onto the newly rebuilt tranny and then the O/D light started flashing again (but it would engage by pushing the button on the gear shifter). So, with the O/D light flashing, my explorer will not engage in drive, but reverse works perfectly. Please help. . . thanks so much !!!!!
Thanks! I have left him 5 messages already, and intend on calling again in the am. I was hoping to figure out what the problem might be so I could talk to him about it instead of just going in circles with him. Thanks for the help
