I have a 2006 Expedition. Transmission was rebuilt less then 150 miles ago. Was taken back due to a leak in torque converter leak at 25 miles. Replaced that. Now when pulling off there seems to be a slip then grab just as you accelerate. Changes fine goes through all gears. Also when placed in reverse on a hill it will not hold at all. When stopping on a incline it also will roll backward. It also has the slip and engage in reverse. Now the o/d light in the dash is flashing steady. It is under warranty and will be taken back. It is a reputable rebuilder that did the job. What do I need to look for here? What could it be causing it?
Not sure what you mean when in reverse it will not hold a hill? With an auto trans you never want to let the trans hold the weight of the vehicle on the hill. I'm guessing that you are trying to back up a hill and it wants to roll forward as soon as you let off either the brake or accelerator? If you're expecting it to hold with the vehicle shut off it will not. That is what park is for. And it is never a good idea to let the trans hold the vehicle on a hill in park either. That's what the parking/emergency brake is for. All that weight resting in the parking pins is not good. It can cause wear and even cause them to break.
On a incline in reverse it is just like it is in natural. When you let off the break to hit the gas in just that small amount of time it will roll at least 2 feet. You actually have to hold the break until the reverse engages. There is a gap between pressing the gas and engaging into reverse. The other transmission did not do this. It also does it in drive. It feels like the torque converter is not engaging until a higher rpm.
if your O/D light is flashing you have a problem that the computer was able to identify.
go get it scanned!
stop messing around with it and let the guy holding the warranty figure out what's wrong. the longer you wait the worse it is going to get, and if you ignore it long enough without telling the rebuilder that there's a problem -- he may have grounds to refuse your warranty.
