where was the original location of the windshield wash bottle on the f1s? I thought it was on the inner fender but i am not sure where and before i go drilling holes I thought i might get some input.
Jordan , I believe it attached to the drivers side fire wall . Will take the restored unit by the body shop where the stock truck cab is and see if any holes line up . Later , Denny
Post #6: The hose is in the way, so all I can see is the 8C part number prefix.
Post #7: BA-18293-A (replaced 8A-18293-A) is the same as 1949/53 Ford/Mercury Passenger Cars.
These same w/s washer kits will be found on many 1940's, early 1950's FoMoCo/GM/ChryCo/Nash/Hudson/Packard/Studebaker/Kaiser/Frazer/****** and etc Passenger Cars.
The only real difference is the length of the hose and the specific manufacturers decal on the bracket.
That is awesome...So the part of the kit I was taking for an electric pump is actually a foot operated manual plunger-pump ! Can you imagine anything like that as an option these days!!! Glass jar as the reservoir....

A foot activated pump is still available from Ford, only it's electrically operated. All C Series Tilt Cabs used this setup w/a bag, then a plastic reservoir.
Passenger Cars thru 1966 and F100/350's thru 1972 were also available with a manually operated and a foot activated electric pump.
Ford changed the basic part number for the kits from 18293 to 17A603 later on in the 1950's. I wouldn't be surprised if some a these kits can still be found at dealers/obsolete parts vendors under the newer basic number.
I ran the original numbers of 8A, 8C, and BA 18293 thru parts locator websites, couldn't find any.
The glass bottle 'went away' after 1953 in passenger cars, was replaced by bags, then by plastic reservoirs. Ditto for trucks after 1956.
