Tach sensor wires....

Hey guys the tach sensor wires are showing bare wire. Can i cut splice these wires? My gauge does go crazy after bout 30 minutes or so of driving. Thanks for any response.

I guess it wouldn't hurt to try, but be prepaired to buy a new one as usually that is the fix.

Hmm. So i did a search and cannot find it. Must be a dealer part. I have not messed with the wires since i noticed it as to not mess it up more. Does the whole unit come out with wire attached? Cause if not then I would need to splice on new connector.

The sensor is a dealer only item, ford or IH. It comes whole-- sensor, wires, and connector.

The wires from the sensor is less than 2 feet long from the sensor to the plug.

I shopped around and most dealers wanted around 70 bucks with the highest to 95. Best price was 50 bucks at Madera Ford in CA. As much as I hate paying dealer prices, you might as well shell it out for this part, especially if you have an E40D because it can put in limp mode, any used one you find is headed for the same problem. The whole part just threads out of your pump housing. There is no connection inside.
