Here is the story in hopes someone else will find it useful. About 3 weeks ago out of nowhere I lose all boost on my truck. Truck seemed to be running ok other than that not smoking, temps all good. Only code was P2262 and that only came up maybe 3 times the entire time. So intially checked the intercooler boots, MAP sensor, and for leaks. After that didn't work pulled the turbo and cleaned it. Nope didn't work. Pulled it out again and checked all the fittings. Nope. Bought a new Turbo. put that one in still NO Boost. At this point I've pulled my turbo 4 times and about $1,000 in parts with the same problem. I had given up and planned on sending it off to the dealership this morning . When around 11pm last night I found a thread with op experiencing a low power situation and on like page 3 Cheezit told him to drop the cat and see if that makes any difference. Went out in the dark got the exhaust suck apart and sure enough problem solved. I was so freaking happy about cried. So long story short anyone with similar symptoms check the cat. along with the usual suspects. I can't thank everyone enough who share of their knowledge and time so unselfishly on here. I've learned so much I can hardly wait to the next thing breaks.
What Year Truck? How many miles? Was Cat clogged? I would think so!!!
It's a 2005 and I have 215,00. I haven't broke it open yet but even the neck looked clogged up. I'm going to split it open tomorrow and take a look. I'm thinking just to delete it since I just had my smog check.

Please post a pic. I wouldn't delete it but I would gut it and put the empty shell back on the truck that way it looks like you still have a cat.
Rather than splitting it open, just knock all the guts out with a long bar, called "gutting the cat" and put it back on. It will look stock in case you ever get a visual inspection ($10k federal fine to remove emissions equipment). Some people say you get weird drones, so if that's an issue you can shove a straight pipe through it.
Was not aware it was a 10k fine. Ok that changes my mind on just straight pipping to the muffler. Problem with leaving it on gutting it is I cut the backend off of it after the rusted bolt snapped off. If I go to a junk yard I could find one to "gut the cat", right?
Salvage yards can't sell emissions equipment, try looking around the forums classifieds or on craigslist for one. Can you weld the end back on yours? There is a stock exhaust on craigslist here I was going to pick up so I have a good cat just in case after I gut mine.
Yes I think it could be able to be welded back on. I just cut where the end of the cat and the muffler meet. I just did a quick search on Craigslist didn't see anyone selling exhaust that included the cat. I still have the problem of getting the clamp off where the muffler and cat connect. Should I just cut threw the clamp to remove the little peace of the cat? Thanks for your help cartmanea.
There is a short pipe between the cat and rear muffler section, did you cut that or the actual catalytic converter piece? If its the short section of straight pipe that bolts in between, I have a few.
I want to ask what its clogged with... but a little oxy acetelyne in the back side, and light it off, that'll help blow it out.
Maybe put it on backwards?
For a cat to fill up, its either never hit operating temps or something is leaking into your exhaust and sludging it up.
I cut the converter piece about 3" back from where the cat connects to the muffler. Actually it's still on the truck, the whole catalytic convertor, I've cut all but the very top of the piece. Not sure if that gives me any other options
