icp sensor problem

icp sensor problem

when i found this truck, in the icp sensor hole in the engine i found a single bolt, so the truck was running without icp.

I buy one on ebay today we install the icp sensor with the adapter.<O</O
If you can help me about this i will appreciate.<O</O
Truck sends "p1280" code that is "inyector control pressure sensor circuit slow" before icp sensor installation.
icp connector is very damaged, but i forgot to buy another one and i am trying to resolve this without having to wait another part from USA.
We are not sure of proper position on wires on icp connector so we try today with 2 different positions.<O</O
In one position the p1280 code remains same.<O</O
in the other position code change to p1210 (icp sensor signal voltage greater than expected) , check engine light turn off.<O</O
But on two option truck runs without power, very poor force.
<O</ODo you have the info of icp connector wires?<O</O
something that you know about this?
also have code p 0380 / p0475 / 0603 i think that none of this is causing this poor power engine.

Where are you from and what year is your truck. P1280 is a common code when the ICP sensor is unplugged or the wires are shorted. When the ICP is unplugged or missing, the computer assumes default values based on a pre-programmed table to allow the truck to run and just ignores the ICP sensor.

It sounds like you've got a wiring issue, but we generally don't recommend using the ICP sensor that requires an adapter since it was made for a different motor. The good news is you won't hurt anything by driving it with the sensor unplugged and the P1280 code, but it will likely run better once you fix the issue.

This should help you out. You can use this chart to verify where the wires are supposed to go. For the ICP, you should have a common (return), a voltage reference and then the signal wire.

Thank a lot!, we check al icp wiring , finally we realize that connector is not well contacting icp sensor, and plugging it more stronger finnaly we solve the problem. Codes out and engine running with power.
Engine light off.
I will test the truck a couple of days if this sensor with adapter works, here in Chile is very difficult to find , only i found one on ebay.
In Chile this sensor cost us$ 500!!
My truck is year 2000.
It´s true that the truck works without icp, but with extreme no power.
Now is running more efficiently.

Just a quick tip. I bought an ICP sensor off eBay without knowing it would have an adaptor (it was a homemade thread adapter). Out of nowhere it started screwing up and almost wrecked my truck. The part number was wrong and no one can identify what the part really is. (ford, international, and Clay all tried - thanks) Hope it doesn't happen to you.

95-03 FORD DIESEL 7.3 L ICP SENSOR POWERSTROKE | eBay

is the same that you buy?, in our truck the sensor is preety well screwed i don´t think that it´s going to screw up.
Why if this happen could wreck the truck?

That's not the right icp sensor for our trucks. The guy is retrofitting a sensor to make it fit our trucks. Some have reported problems with that one. I would see if Clay could ship you one: Riffraff Diesel: Motorcraft ICP Sensor

That's the one I bought. He's selling it as if it is the part number he has listed but it is actually a different part number. According to Ford, the correct part does not come in varying thread sizes. It almost wrecked my truck because it started accelerating and decelerating on it's own; plus, the throttle response would not stay constant. It all happened on a bridge with no place to pull over. I put the new one from Clay in and haven't had an issue since

I have sold to 3 different people that bought this incorrect sensor from the eBay guy. I don't care if you purchase from me but I would suggest get the correct one from a reliable source, ie local Ford dealer, partsguyed.com ect.

One guy had the sensor actually blow out the head and it probly cost him more than that 500 bucks your dealer wants for the right one. It would be worth giving clay at Riffraff a call and have one shipped!

thanks , at this point the engine is running fine using this sensor.
but i am going to import another as soon as possible.

Same problem w'95 7.3 ICP sensor

I'm wondering if this could be the scenario with my '97 PSD/7.3?
That's what the dealer is telling me when they scanned it? Wires are dry and connections are good??

The code is P1280, connections are fine, we are installing a gauge to check air circulation.
We think that we have electrical failure that is not activating turbo.
If there are more suggestions please post.
I cannot find electric diagram for turbo system, and wire colours for turbo solenoid.
I think that this truck in the past someone took engine out , so maibe i hace some wire bad placed.

we finnaly put out all the turbo to see if there anything wrong.
Really i didn´t find any bad, just the rear tube connection of turbo was loose. (that´s why the engine sound so loud)
We install all boost again, and see that track is running with a lot of power now.
problem solved, don´t know really reason, but i think some loose boost connection.
