Looking for a quick/basic education. What are the criteria used to determine whether or not a WD hitch is a good idea other than trailer/tongue weights? I presume the considerations are different for a 1/2 ton vs 3/4 or 1 ton truck, meaning someone might consider a WD hitch at a lower total weight in a 1/2 ton truck vs towing the same weight/set up behind a 3/4 or higher ton truck.
At what trailer weight would one consider a WD hitch in a F150? I have never used one an only tow a boat/trailer combo that has a max "wet" weight of 5K-6K lbs. Not sure if there is any advantage in considering a WD hitch (namely for peace of mind) even if it's not entirely necessary.
