Awesome Truck...except

Although I LOVE this truck, I have but two gripes...

Location of the windshield washer nozzles...who's the rocket scientist who decided to get the hood covered with washer fluid every time you wash the windshield?

No integration of the climate control on the Navi/Sync like other Ford products?

Just saying

That is strange on the windshield fluid nozzles. Mine does a great job of hitting the windshield without hitting the hood. Do you have a bug deflector installed?

I have mixed thoughts on the integrated Nav. If I hang onto this truck for a while, I may be tempted to upgrade the Nav unit. Having the heater control integrated will make that impossible.

No bug shield...it just seems stupid.

I wonder if your nozzles might partially obstructed with wax or something else. I thought the same thing about the design, but mine aren't spraying on the hood at all.

I agree that there always seem to be some very obvious things missing from today's vehicles. Simple integrations, control placement, etc.

Just another of "Ford's Better Ideas" I guess.

You might try poking a pin in your washer fluid ports as mine seems to work fine both with and without a bugshield. I was skeptical because they are half a football field away from the windshield but they must have a heck of a pump to squirt that far.

I questioned the climate control also not being in the steering controls like so many other vehicles. I have often wondered why they don't incorporate the high beam selector and the turn signals in too. I guess on the Lincoln which uses a similar SYNC/NAV unit you can use voice to control the temperature. I tried it and she told me it was not equipped.

Ford had a lot of things to think about with building a new engine and transmission. It is understandable they missed a few things. When they test drive the trucks they hire non truck drivers and they don't know any better. We are all arm chair engineers.... No disrespect intended.

Vast improvement from my 2000 F250 so I am happy....

None taken!

My '11 Mustang has the climate controls in the Navi/Sync

I have a bug sheild on mine. The turbulence caused by the bug sheild does not affect the spray pattern at all. Very powerful motor, doesn't get on the hood.

No bug shield (yet) and washer fluid does not get on the hood.
When I first saw my truck I thought it was a dumb design but it works great.

Mach, Who makes you bug shield and do you have a picture of it on your truck? I have been looking for the right one to buy since ford does not make one yet for the 2011. Thanks, Craig

I'll toss my vote in for obstructed nozzles. My truck has no issue putting all the spray on the windshield.

About the sync / climate integration... I never missed it on my truck until we got my wife's 2011 explorer. It's pretty cool to be able to say "climate temperature 72" and have it just happen . Her system is pretty vastly different from mine though. Similar, but different - controls, voice, phrases, etc. Several of the voice commands are different enough that I have had to learn two sets, and remember which set to use with which vehicle. That can get annoying.

On my '08, I had a nozzle that wouldn't spray and it was from a broken sprayer head. It was cracked underneath the hood where the hose joined it and it would spray all over my engine compartment. It made a weak spray and it got all over the hood.
