**UPDATE** Vin number assigned

My sales guy called me this morning to say that our new 350 has been assigned a VIN number. Scheduled for around April 28 build which would put it here just barely in time for me to get 1000 miles on it before our first scheduled camping trip. They need to build it soon as I keep calling the guy and adding more stuff to the order! Tailgate step was the latest thing I just had to have (as I explained to my wife).

This is exactly what I was hoping for...the latest possible delivery to meet our schedule. I just hope, after reading the KTP forum, that the guys and gals putting it together aren't working so much that they're half asleep!!! I guess if it's good enough for doctors, it's OK for the truck plant folks.

Congratulations . You and vvv will get one built that week. They should be rested, I think the coming week is Easter vacation.

I am sure you are most likely aware of this and it is also something that is probably hotly debated...but the Ford manual states 1000 mile break-in in which you should vary the speed and not stay at a constant speed for too long a time. Towing - do not tow until at least 500 miles.

I agree that 1000 miles before towing would be best...which is why I am finding all sorts of reasons to take the new rig on all of our drives right now.

Good to hear! BTW - I think you will appreciate having the tailgate step. The rear end of an unloaded F350 is pretty high, even for us 6'4" guys, let alone for my midget wife!

Yes, I am aware, but it can't be stated enough IMO. Our first trip is Memorial day so I should have 2 weeks to get the miles built up. It'll be tough to have to drive this thing everywhere, but I'm willing to take one for the team!

That's a really quick turn-around. Congratulations!

I got my VIN on April 8, built on April 25, and the ETA is THIS FREAKING FRIDAY! (May 6)
Put your VIN in this link and you can display your window sticker.
http://services.forddirect.fordvehic...7W2BTXBEC60993

You can call Ford Customer Service at 1-800-392-3673, and select options 1, 5, 1, 2, 2. Give them your VIN and they'll give you the status.

I call every day! My truck is on a train in Virginia.

I don't anticipate getting in the 1000 miles before my first camping trip. However, my towable is 7500# vs. the rating of 14,000#, so I don't think it will be a big deal. I'm going to vary the RPMs during the trip and move ahead. I asked about it on the 6.7L forum and everyone thought that it was OK.

Thanks...I called CS today and all they could tell me was that the truck's ETA was 5-11. I asked if ETA meant to the dealer or to the transport company and they couldn't tell me so I called the dealer. They confirmed that ETA meant to the dealer.

Aaaarrrgggghhhh! I hope that doesn't happen to me!
At least Richmond is a lot closer to Petersburg.
I have a camping trip planned starting May 20 and I need to get the truck ready.

Just talked to my sales guy. My truck arrived this morning. I'll pick it up Thursday. Looking forward to the 3 hour drive home. I'm bringing a buddy so that he can drive while I play with all the buttons and read the manual.

Pics to follow.

Congrats. We'll wait for the pictures.
I recommend avoiding the passenger ejector seat button sequence since you'll be the one playing (I mean learning) the different features.
(This is for the passenger who won't leave buttons alone!, haha. "Traction control off"...wait, what?)
