I know a ranger seat fits just right in a 51. But what fits in a 53 ? Its a wider cab [right] Well a full size ford seat work in a 53 ?
I dont know for sure which do, 55f350 gave me a full size seat out of a truck. When I had it in my truck sitting on the floor board it fit in with no problems but when I raised it up to the proper height it was to wide at the top. I might be able to still use it but I have to figure out someway to shorten the width of it...
I have a mid 90 Ranger seats in my 55. The look good. There is some room on the sides prob about 6 inches(Im just guessing) on each side from the bracket to the door. The seat prob about 4 inches(Still guessing). This leaves me room to put my floor style seat belt. I like it.
Now remember, the Ranger seats are contoured to fit a Ranger. So it depends on how you want to mount them. Its not flat and its not straight. Youre gonna have to put some spacers in the brackets you are using. I used some Square Tubing and cut some more tubing in half and welded this on the existing tubing to give me a nice even seat.

Those GM seats do fit the cabs perfectly, but you will want to get the foam recut. The 'butt well' on the driver side is alittle to close to the door. To center yourself on the steering wheel, you'll kinda be sitting out of the 'butt well' in the seat.
We used the mid to late 80's Cadillac 60/40's. They fit very well, mounted to a basic square tube frame and have a center arm console with a flip out cup holder. Always get the switches with the seats. I just made a simple bracket that mounted the switch on the floor in front of the seat within arms reach but out of sight.
I like that seat 53pickemup !!! Nice gallery also. I most likely will put the 53 on hold so i can devote my time too the 51 USAF i just got. 53 runs good as it is and has been a good truck to put the boat in the water. Heck i live like 300 yards from the boatlanding so i just keep it hooked to the boat trailer . LOL luv me some fishing.
