Was looking at getting some seats for my truck. Would prefer some mid or high back buckets. But a split bench would work as well. For me I like to have a spot to rest my right arm when driving, hence the bucket seat idea. I have no idea what fits so was wondering what you have used. Pics would be helpful as well.
Thanks
Marten
That is a custom made seat, the frame is made by a guy here in San Diego named Bob Engel. It is similar to Glide Engineering and other aftermarket seats. The upholstery was done here in El Cajon by Friendly Upholstery and it is done in top grain leather.
I used seats out of a 2003 Chrysler LHS for my 56 pickup I'm building right now and seat from a Mercury Villager van in my panel. Had to alter the seat bases for the van seats and built my own base for the Chrysler seats.
These are the ones from the Chrysler I had reupholstered , I made the lower section of the center console , the upper section is from a 2005 Chev Impala split bench. I still have to install some trim pieces on the seats yet..
I'm not using the head rests on the seats for the pickup so they don't block off the back window. I personally don't like the seats with the built in seat belts..

I think the newer Chevy truck would be too wide for our old trucks

John,
FYI, in crash testing with pickups when you get hit from the rear at 35 mph the crash dummy heads went through the rear window and data showed their brain stems were cut. A good reason why the ‘48-‘50 models with their smaller windows are safer.
